The staff were very professional and dedicated to making my short hospital stay as pleasant as possible.
I had a very pleasurable stay in hospital and all the staff I had to meet were very polite and put me at ease
The hospital was easily accessible, reception very efficient the reception area was
comfortable.Everything was very clean and all the staff most efficient.
All good
I found the BMI Sarum Road Hospital very welcoming, friendly staff and very clean.
Before my operation all the staff were having a laugh with me to help take my mind off the operation which was extremely kind and also good fun. Thank you all
1) Over a four day stay my room was not cleaned to my knowledge. I left it once to go briefly for an x-ray. The window sill had the same two dead flies on it the whole time and thick dust. There were even cobwebs in the upper corners of the windows. When I was in QA ward rooms were routinely and minutely cleaned twice daily - right into the corners. 2) The food was not anywhere near as good as an NHS equivalent. Small portions, odd items like shrivelled, greying, days old looking lettuce, to decorate sandwiches. Some years ago the food was well prepared. I am not a fussy eater and the breakfast was brilliant, (although the orders were nearly always wrong ) but the rest of the meals were small and of a questionable standard. My relatives brought in snacks. 3) When I left in a wheelchair an orderly pushing it threw up my skirt to see which leg had been operated on and then roughly shoved my other leg behind it. I was in some pain with that. She then complimented me on where I lived. I asked her how she knew (I'd never seen this lady before) and she replied "oh, I've read your notes". I have very sensitive issues on my medical notes. This lady had no medical or operational need to view them. I was truly appalled at the lack of confidentiality and it really upset my husband and I. Having experienced Sarum Road some years ago we were very struck by how far down hill the basic standards have become. I would feel uncomfortable going there again and could only recommend the superb surgeons and nursing staff. I would ask to go to another private hospital next time. Non British born staff can be fabulous, but I would suggest that some agency staff in the physiotherapy department have too basic a grasp of English and have wasted sessions with poor explanations leaving me to rely on diagrams. I am not a serial complainer by any means, but these issues seriously disturbed my experience and I am formally writing to my insurance provider.
The care I received by all the staff at Sarum Road Hospital was exemplary. From the Reception staff, physiotherapists, all medical staff and the cleaning staff I spoke to, they all worked with pride. I have recommended this hospital to all my friends.
Have had 2 stays in this hospital & both were excellent.
